History of Minnick Services

Minnick Services consists of three distinct divisions.

Our funeral services division began in 1948 as Fort Wayne Wilbert Vault and was located in Uniondale, Indiana. In 1978 Mark Minnick purchased this company and in 1981 moved its operation to our present location in Fort Wayne.

This division has grown considerably and currently services 41 counties in Indiana from locations in Fort Wayne, Richmond, Indianapolis, Kokomo, and Lafayette. Minnick Services manufactures, delivers and services nearly 4,000 burial vaults each year. As a company, we have been innovative in the custom personalization of burial vaults, providing families with specialized memories at the graveside service of their loved one. In 1992, following the lead of Alice Minnick, we diversified our funeral services division by providing human cremation services. Since then, we have added caskets, cremation urns and other funeral supplies to our product offerings.

The Minnick Services precast concrete division began to take shape in the early 1980’s. In 2015, we increased our manufacturing capacity for precast products. Since then we began to manufacture concrete manhole structures, Redi-Rock precast retaining-wall systems, and Pole Base, a precast custom utility system for the installation of light poles.

Minnick Services Corp. serves Northern and Central Indiana and Northeastern Illinois. We offer a selection of precast concrete products (Structures, Redi-Rock, Pole Bases), concrete burial vaults and urn vaults, caskets, cremation services and urns, burial vault personalization, and burial vault services.

Services

Set Up

Minnick Services offers two types of burial set ups, Wilbert Way (WW) and Ovation, and Above Ground with Lowering Device (AL). Both set ups consist of an above ground seal and a lowering device, also known as The Wilbert Way Lowering Device. The difference in the two set ups is in the placement of the vault and the vault cover during the funeral service. The Lowering Device and Greens setup includes graveside grass and casket lowering device.

Tents

A 15x20 tent is available to be set up by our staff at the gravesite for funeral services. The tents cover the burial area and provide a comfortable place for families to gather during the funeral. Ten chairs are provided for each definite tent.

Nameplate

Nameplates give burial vaults a personalized touch. They are a standard feature of our Monticello burial vaults and above. Nameplate includes the name of the deceased and the birth and death dates.

Disinterment

Minnick Services provides disinterment services. If it becomes necessary to move a burial vault from one location to another, Minnick Services can assist with the disinterment service. We handle everything from locating the burial vault to relocating the burial vault to a new location.

Vault Transfer

Vault Transfer is a service available between Wilbert licensees and dealers. Minnick Services uses the vault transfer service when a burial request has been made outside of the licensee territory. The location of the cemetery is needed to determine the appropriate Wilbert licensee or dealer. Since the services offered by each Wilbert licensee vary, the licensee work together on a per burial basis to determine the services, such as tents, grass, and chairs that each licensee will provide for the burial.

First Responders

When a hero falls, Wilbert is there.

Our “Commemorating First Responders” program provides families of firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel who have died in the line of duty with a tribute worthy of their valor and sacrifice.

At no charge to the family, Wilbert and our licensees donate a customized Wilbert Stainless Steel Triune® burial vault. If the choice is cremation, we offer a selection of four urns, as well as a Stainless Steel Triune urn vault for memorial tribute. If permitted, a WilbertWay® graveside service may also be included.

Join us as we help families honor heroic lives, sacrificed in valiant service to neighbor and community.

Ultimate Service Provider

Wilbert Funeral Service in Chicago (corporate HQ) has awarded Minnick Services with "Ultimate Service Provider" for the tenth year in a row.

There are four service levels: Minimum Service, Basic Service, Premium Service, and Ultimate Service Provider. To be classified as an Ultimate Service Provider, one must receive at least 75 points out of 88 points; a higher score is attainable when bonus points are earned for exceptional achievements. Points are collected by category, including tents, chairs, greens, Wilbert Way, lowering device, vaults, employees, and trucks and delivery. Minnick Services surpassed the 75 points needed to obtain Ultimate Service Provider. Although we are proud of this accomplishment internally, it pleases us most that local families are the recipients of this service.
